Allison super creepy but photogenic, America’s Next Top Model 12 Episode 1-2 ANTM

The first photoshoot of every cycle of America’s Next Top Model is cause-driven. Past causes have been the environment and politics. Cycle 12 starts out with the issue of little girls wanting to grow up too quickly. Tyra mentions that one in five girls polled want to be a teen mom. What a strange new generation of girls.

Now it’s time to get down to the point of this post, my review of the photos. The photos are listed in order of best to worst. Each of the models had to portray a different childhood game that little girls play.

In the end, Isabella is sent home. I loved Isabella after the first hour of the premiere, but after looking through the photos, there’s not much argument that can be made against the judges’ decision to let Isabella go home.

London portrays Tug of War

London definitely took the best commercial photo. Her face looks great and the clothes look great, especially the dress. She is hiding the yellow top a bit, but I suppose that can’t be helped. I love the action in this photo. I think London has definite potential to go far in this competition.

Allison portrays Double-Dutch

Allison is this year’s “Editorial” girl. Everything about her screams Edward Scissorhands, especially in this photo where she’s dressed up in orange and black, almost like emo Hallowe’en. It’s f unny how all of the other girls in the shot look so tired. It kind of works to contrast how strangely peppy Allison appears. It’s definitely turned out as a haunting type of a photo.

Allison has a chance to do really well in this competition. I just hope that she has enough variety in her facial expressions, as I have only seen her give one look, and I’m not talking about just the photoshoot. The entire episode, Allison has the same expression on her face.

Celia portrays Hula Hoop

I have to admit that I’m not the biggest Celia fan. Her face doesn’t do it for me, and she’s too old to model realistically (she’s 25). I’ve definitely got to give it up to Celia for this shot, though. It’s definitely amazing. She captures the spirit of Tug of War perfectly.

Fo portrays Ring Around the Rosy

Fo was my early favourite after seeing the first hour of the premiere. After seeing her in this photo, though, I have reservations about whether her face can translate well to film. Hopefully next week will give me a better indication. I love how high Fo has leapt off the ground. Unfortunately, Fo’s neck is completely hidden.

Nijah portrays Musical Chairs

Nijah definitely nailed the concept of looking like a gleeful little girl. The Musical Chairs part of the theme gets lost in the photo unfortunately.

Natalie portrays Leap Frog

Natalie, America's Next Top Model Cycle 12 Episode 1

Natalie reminds me of Michelle from a few cycles back. Her face is a little squished and her body is a little butch. I couldn’t really tell that she was playing Leap Frog when I first saw the photo. Her face does translate nicely to the photo this week. I’d like to see how she progresses in the coming weeks.

Aminat portrays London Bridge

I’m not convinced on Aminat as a print model. She can definitely do runway, but there’s nothing particularly special about her face. In this picture, she looks like an absolute giant. Why on Earth did the photographer shoot her from below?

Teyona portrays Hopscotch

There sure are a lot of jumping photos this week. I don’t really get this photo at all. Teyona looks more like she’s competing in the long jump competition at the Olympics. Teyona’s head is tilted back, and I can barely make out her face. The outfit they have her in is quite terrible, though that’s not really her fault.

Sandra portrays Hide-and Seek

Sandra’s photo wasn’t as much of a disaster as I was expecting after seeing the episode. It’s still a little bit boring and stiff, but I suppose it gets the point across. It’s too bad because Hide-and-Seek is one of the easier games to portray.

Tahlia portrays Tag

Tahlia’s photo just screams, “I’m a bad amateur actress.” The facial expression and body position just don’t cut it for me. Luckily, Tahlia’s face photographs well, so I have hope for the next photoshoot.

Kortnie portrays Monkey Bars

Kortnie’s photo is boring boring boring. Her left leg being up is kind of odd. I’m quite captivated by the background model leaning against the monkey bars. I barely even notice Kortnie, which is not a good thing.

Jessica portrays Jacks

Jessica’s photo is not bad at all except that it completely misses the point. I don’t even know what she’s doing. It was tough, though, because Jessica didn’t know what Jacks is (and neither do I to be quite honest).

Isabella portrays Dodgeball

This photo is absolutely painful. I’m sad because Isabella was one of my favourites after the first hour of the premiere. I was worried immediately when I saw Isabella’s hair after she was styled. She looked absolutely horrible. The photo itself is even more terrible than the hair. Weird pose, weird face . . . hell, weird ball.

# Too bad for Kathryn. She had a great look, but Tyra probably felt her personality wasn’t big enough.
# I can’t believe Sandra bumped Angelea, totally cold.
# Sandra called thirteenth. She has the bone structure to be a real model.
# Jessica called twelfth.
# Isabella called eleventh.
# Courtney called tenth.
# Tiyana (sp?) called ninth.
# London called eighth. She reminds me of Silver from 90210.
# Nijah called seventh.
# Celia called sixth.
# Tahlia called fifth.
# Freaky girl Allison called fourth.
# Fo called third. Best face bar none.
# Nathalie called second. I don’t remember this girl.
# Aminat called first.
# I’m so happy ANTM is returning to New York. It’s where it should be.
# Tahlia’s face is so gorgeous, but she’s the wrong size to be a small, both too big and too small to work in the industry.
# Tyra’s right, Sandra’s bone above her eyebrow is totally hot.
# Tyra Banks is so extra cheesy, but I still love her!
# Angelea versus Sandra is totally hilarious.
# Allison is sooooo creepy.

# Natalie was all right. Big model eyes and good jawline.
# Conspiracy girl got some issues. Monique has good poses, but that walk is terrible.
# Tahlia looks very pretty. Damn, she’s a burn victim. Good for her for having the self-confidence to come on this show.
# Jessica is way too covered up. She has the nice wide separated eyes for modeling.
# Oh my God, London looks tragic, and why is she praising Jesus in front of Mr. Jay. Girl, that style needs to go.
# I like Sandra’s bone structure.
# Ooh, miss Sandra is looking fierce. I can’t believe she’s crying already. Damn girl.
# Wow, Celia has a huge Tyra-crush.
# Tyra’s makeup is not hot tonight. She’s kind of over the top right now.
# I like Monique’s features but she’s kind of butch. Allison’s walk was hilarious. Jessica brought the fierce but not pretty enough.
# Sandra’s walk is very jigly. Angelique looks scary when she walks. Tahlia has a nice expression when walking. Alex is tragic.
# Teyona’s eyes are too small to be a model.
# Isabella is boring. Aminat and Tahlia are boring. Kathryn might have some potential, but she had bug eyes in her profile.
# I like the Roman theme. Celia has big bones, but I’m not sure she’s pretty enough. I LOVE Fo.
# Kortnie, this year’s plus-size girl isn’t quite plus size. I think they’re going to tell her that she’s not big enough.
# Sandra looks okay but nothing too special.
# London has a pretty face. Fo is intriguing as well.
# America’s Next Top Model is in Las Vegas this year.
# America’s Next Top Model Cycle 12 is about to begin! I don’t know why I’m so addicted. Oh wait, yes I do. It’s all the hotness.
