Aminat Ayinde – Photoshoot Portfolio Review, America’s Next Top Model Cycle 12, ANTM 2009

Aminat definitely had the best personality of the season and also one of the best modeling bodies in the world. Aminat definitely has a great future in runway modeling given that her walk is polished and pretty damn hot. I’m not sure she can really do much in print modeling, though. She doesn’t know how to work her body in a photo, and her face is only average for a model. That said, I’m sure there are a lot of designers who would love to have her walking down their runway with her hot body and fierce model stomp.

There’s nothing all that wrong with this photo except that it’s just exceptional, which is required for the top three. Aminat’s eyes are a little dead, though I don’t mind her smile.

Aminat looks like she’s playing a hooker in a horror movie running away from a giant monster bird. That said, she pulls it off well, and for once there’s expression in her face.

There’s nothing really inspiring about Aminat in this picture as far as her pose and facial expression goes, but there is no denying Aminat’s body. Even though Aminat’s body is actually even better than it looks in this photo. She’s at least trying to interact a bit with the scene. I like the way her body sways in conjunction with the palm tree behind her.

Ooh, Aminat, I love you and all but this is the worst photo of the week. Aminat is so ridiculously gorgeous and tall, but she just doesn’t understand how to model. Aminat’s pose is horrific, and her facial expression is really boring. It’s too bad because Aminat has an amazing personality. Hopefully she can turn it around next week.

This photo is a total trainwreck. It’s too bad because I really like Aminat, but this pose is all kinds of wrong. Why is Aminat leaning backward? The entire point of the photoshoot is that she is playing the part of an obsessed fan. Obsessed fans don’t lie backward with a sultry look.

Aminat has really surprised me. I have never thought that her face was very strong, but here she is taking fabulous beauty shot. Her eyes are committed and her lips look heavenly.

Another good photo for Aminat this week. It looks like she’s starting to figure out how to utilize her features. I still think that the photographers are over-lighting Aminat’s face. I know she has dark skin, but the amount of light on Aminat’s face is way excessive and is bouncing into the camera lens too powerfully. Aminat’s pose is fantastic and the close-up on her face is amazing. I hope she can keep it up.

I absolutely love this photo, though it’s mainly because of Fo. Aminat does a capable job but gets completely overshadowed. I really love the fashion used as well as the feeling of action in this photo from both the models and the background. I’m not sure if the bus was moving, but it feels like it was in the photo, and that’s the important part.

Ooh damn, this photo is an absolute disaster, and it’s not all Aminat’s fault. The photographer placed her way at the back of the photoshoot set. She was the only model who was placed in this type of situation where the other models are front and centre on her photo. That being said, Aminat didn’t help her own cause with her terrible posing.

I like Aminat’s makeover. I already liked her afro, but this new wavy hair definitely is more versatile. This photo itself, though, still isn’t too great. I have yet to see Aminat prove that her face is at all photogenic.

I don’t really understand this photo. Aminat’s face is way overlit, and the angle the photographer took is a little too exaggerated without having much of a point. Sure it makes Aminat look taller, but she was already tall to begin with. Aminat’s face doesn’t through very well in this photo. I hope she can learn her angles quickly, because this shot is kind of a disaster.

Aminat looks disco-tastic with her big afro. She has great height and looks amazing on the runway, though I’m not sure that she has the face for print work. I guess I’ll see soon enough whether I’m right or wrong.

Aminat really reminds me of Danielle, the winner of cycle 6. The only thing is I don't know hwy they kept Aminat around for so long. She never really had an amazing picture and was in the bottom two several times. I think if they would have kicked her out in the beginning it would have given some of the better models chances to prove themselves and may have changed the outcome of the competition.
