Scott MacIntyre – Performance Profile, American Idol 2009 Season 8

Listen, I like Scott MacIntyre. He’s a nice guy all around, but he stayed around in the competition far too long given his ability level. Especially annoying was the way that the judges babied him. Paula especially went out of her way to treat Scott like he had a mental illness. She even went so far as to change the tone of her voice when talking to Scott, almost like she was talking to a baby.

It was hilarious how in previous weeks Randy Jackson told Scott to challenge himself with bigger songs, haha. It shows how clueless Randy Jackson is at times. Scott did well considering his lack of talent, so I can’t be mad at him. I’m just more annoyed at the judges and the way they treated him like he was a baby.

Wow, Scott MacIntyre tries to go after a power ballad. It’s like he’s trying to garner more votes from “Vote For The Worst” readers. All of Scott’s vocal deficiencies come through, though a little more pronounced than usual. Scott missed the high notes badly again, and the judges finally noticed, haha. I don’t know what took so long. Scott’s falsetto was especially horrible.

Scott MacIntyre continued with his new look of all-black clothing and slicked back hair, which was a good choice. Scott’s guitar playing was really quite horrible, though. I do appreciate that Scott tried to take a risk and performing without his piano. All in all, though, the performance just was not up to snuff.

Review Score: ★☆☆☆☆
