A bit of a long opening, some wasted time. Tapping a microphone, asking the crowd how they’re doing, saying “um” and “let’s see a little about me” are definite comedy faux pas, and that’s just off the top. I don’t doubt that Jonathan Thymius will be fantastic, but it’s not tough to tell that he doesn’t have the experience as some of the others (or at least that’s the impression I get, I’m sure I’ll hear about it in the comments section if I’m wrong). Burping as a punchline and a long juggling setup also aren’t the greatest examples of comedy.
I love his character, but maybe I’m just too stuck on traditional comedy.
Jonathan Thymius knows his character well, and he does not break character ever. This gives him the advantage of standing apart from the rest of the comedians, which is important in a vote-in show. His jeans and red button-up shirt worked well considering his character but would otherwise be tragically awful in the real world..

I could have done without the devil joke to open. Again, I think the different comedians are rounding into shape as far as what we can expect. Jonathan Thymius has a great, memorable character but is a little lacking with the material, using somewhat generic joke conventions. The final impression of his friend Marty has been done quite often and done a lot better, nevermind the long windup with little payoff.
Same attire as last time but in a very yucky green shade this week. He’s consistent, though I don’t much like the extra shiny feel to his clothes this week.

The Comedy-O-Gram intro was super cute with the portable brick wall. It’s always great to see how other comedians find ways to make money in this crazy business.
Jonathan Thymius’ blue and white outfit today was totally reminiscent of a bowling uniform. As he pointed out himself, he totally looks like he should be the mayor of Cleveland. Whether I like the look or not, at least he has thought about it and made his choices informed.
Jonathan’s style is all his own including his choices on stage. Just like his fashion sense, it’s not for everyone but at least he’s thought about it. I’m starting to get a better sense of what he’s trying to accomplish on stage. His word play and material is starting to grow on me.
Multiple turning points as Barack Obama elected president

Yesterday was a huge turning point for the United States, as Barack Obama was elected President. I’m also hoping for yesterday to be a turning point in my comedy career as well.
I went down to the Rivoli yesterday to congratulate Zoe Randall on her final show as producer after 12 years. It was the first comedy show I’ve been to in many, many months. I’m hoping that yesterday will be the catalyst for me to turn around my career with some much needed hard work and focus.
I am determined to make it out to at least one comedy show a week from now until the end of the year. This goal used to be fairly easy for me, as I was performing an average of three shows a week. Now it seems like making it out to one show a week is difficult. I definitely have to turn this ship around and quickly too.
I’m really happy about the launch of this website and the traffic it has been generating. My past motivations on stage were closely tied to my success in the online world, and I am hoping for history to repeat itself.
