Monday, July 12 Episode: Top 10, Last Comic Standing Season 7

If there’s any justice in the world, then Roy Wood Jr. needs to win Last Comic Standing Season 7. He’s far and away a level above the other comedians. What great, great joke writing. His opening of getting punched in the face was hilarious, though his material about swimming’s popularity in America was a little derivative using a common technique of swapping between swimming and football phrases to compare. Throwing in a call-back to gators in the swimming joke may have been worth it, though. All these are little quibbles, because Roy is fantastic, his material’s fantastic, and his stage persona and delivery are well honed. He’s the total package in this competition and will be difficult to derail.

Interesting outfit on stage. Roy went with a similar combination to Felipe Esparza with a jacket, un-tucked unbuttoned shirt and casual pants. Maybe it’s an NBC stylist thing, who knows. Still, I did like the feel he was giving off.

This maybe wasn’t my favourite material from Roy, but I’m hoping it’s because he’s coasting a bit and saving his best bits for last. He’s still my favourite to win because everything he does is so damn top notch. This week it’s just that the premises weren’t killer enough to expand upon, but yeah, hopefully there’s some heavy guns he’s saving for later.

Damn Roy, a yellow polo with a cream jacket . . . totally styling. I only say that because it’s eerily familiar to my wardrobe when I go on stage.

Roy Wood Jr.’s mom is totally cute. I’m really enjoying the opening videos this week.

Oh, here comes my favourite comedian of the season, Roy Wood Jr. Roy’s delivery is so impeccable. “My burger is delicious,” is totally hilarious. Roy really doesn’t have any weaknesses in his performing and writing. The only question is why is this dude on the show? He should already be a star.

The stylist is doing wonders for Roy. That blazer was hot in combination with the blue polo.
