I’m not sure how to react to James Adomian’s set, as he had a few strange material choices. Starting off with Aesop’s fables was all right, and I see the point he’s trying to make but it did take a little while to get there without much payoff. The Paul Giamatti impression, though, seem kind of off the wall. There weren’t any punchlines built it; it was a straight-up impression that went on far too long considering few people will know who Paul Giamatti is unless they’ve seen Lady in the Water. I would really liked to have seen what James could do, but since he spent so much time (more than half) on an impression of someone few people know, it’s kind of tough. I also think the audience may get a bit turned off with the shouting. There was no momentum in the set as the entire performance was high-energy shouting, so it was tough to gauge the rhythm for the audience.

Nice, nice outfit choice. The jeans with the shirt and tie all complemented each other well. I’m not so sure about the hat, but it makes him stand out so it’s not so bad I suppose. The sweaty armpits weren’t so great, though.

I’m not too surprised that James Adomian left this week, though it is too bad as I would have liked to have seen more from him. What a terrible choice in material last week, though.
