Aminat and Fo impress as Wall Street investors, America’s Next Top Model 12 Episode 4 ANTM

The preview showed that tonight’s episode would include lots of Miss J and runway walking, which is always a good thing. There’s not much wrong that this show can do for me. I’m way too obsessed.

Overall, it was a fun episode, and I enjoyed that we got to see more of New York due to the theme of the photoshoot: famous areas of New York. I wasn’t too sad to see Nijah go home. She’s extremely pretty, but she’s been boring me to death the last couple of weeks.

Nijah Harris – Photoshoot Portfolio Review, America’s Next Top Model Cycle 12, ANTM 2009

March 18, 2009 by vongsundara · 2 Comments

Nijah is the classic case of a model having all the potential in the world and not knowing what to do with it. Her gorgeous body and ridiculously modelesque face never translated in any of her photos. Still, if she can figure it out, she has tons of potential to make it as a real model in the fashion industry.

Total disaster! Nijah looks horrible yet again, her clothing doesn’t work, and the overall colours don’t mix well in this photo.

Model makeover brings Fo to tears, America’s Next Top Model 12 Episode 3 ANTM

March 15, 2009 by vongsundara · 1 Comment

America’s Next Top Model’s annual makeover episode came a lot earlier in the cycle than usual. I’m personally happy that the makeovers happened during the second episode, as the competition doesn’t really seem to start until the makeovers are complete.

This year’s makeover episode had quite a bit of drama, especially from Fo, which is unfortunate because Fo had the best makeover. Fo’s baby reaction definitely made me like her less. Hopefully she can get over it and move on, because if she has another week like this week, then I’m going to be hoping and wishing for her to go.

Jessica Santiago – Photoshoot Portfolio Review, America’s Next Top Model Cycle 12, ANTM 2009

March 11, 2009 by vongsundara · 2 Comments

I can’t say I’m too sad to see Jessica go home early. Her big ego was at times entertaining, but she ultimately does not have the bone structure to be a real model, so I was getting bored of watching her go through the motions.

Jessica looks completely scary in this photo. From the horrible low-set lighting to the overdone hair and makeup, it looks like Jessica just stepped off the set of a zombie thriller and not in a good way.

Allison super creepy but photogenic, America’s Next Top Model 12 Episode 1-2 ANTM

March 7, 2009 by vongsundara · Leave a Comment

The first photoshoot of every cycle of America’s Next Top Model is cause-driven. Past causes have been the environment and politics. Cycle 12 starts out with the issue of little girls wanting to grow up too quickly. Tyra mentions that one in five girls polled want to be a teen mom. What a strange new generation of girls.

Now it’s time to get down to the point of this post, my review of the photos. The photos are listed in order of best to worst. Each of the models had to portray a different childhood game that little girls play.

In the end, Isabella is sent home. I loved Isabella after the first hour of the premiere, but after looking through the photos, there’s not much argument that can be made against the judges’ decision to let Isabella go home.

Kelly “Isabella” Falk – Photoshoot Portfolio Review, America’s Next Top Model Cycle 12, ANTM 2009

March 4, 2009 by vongsundara · 1 Comment

Poor poor Isabella. I really, really liked her, and I still think she has the potential to make it as a real model in the industry. She has a fresh look and a nice personality. I can’t disagree that her first photoshoot was an absolute disaster, but I wish Tyra would have kept her around just a little bit longer. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to find someone new to cheer for.

Wow, Isabella gets my first zero rate of the cycle. This photo is a complete mess. Isabella’s pose is downright bizarre and doesn’t have anything to do with dodgeball. Isabella is looking off into some random distance for no apparent reason, and her hair and makeup are an absolute mess. I’m not sure what the photoshoot crew was thinking in setting up this shot.

Tatiana Del Toro impresses with passionate vocal, American Idol 8 Top 36 Group 1

March 1, 2009 by vongsundara · 1 Comment

Wow, it’s that time of year again. American Idol has returned for its eighth season. I’ve been following the audition rounds and Hollywood rounds. I suppose I could have written up reviews for those performances, but I really feel like the show doesn’t start until the semi-final rounds when viewers get to vote.

This year, the format has changed. The 36 semi-finalists are split into three groups of 12. Each group will perform over the next three weeks, with the top three vote-getters moving into the American Idol Season Eight Top 12 (and thus on to the Top 12 nationwide tour). There will also be a fourth week Wildcard group, which will provide a second chance for performers who blew their first chance. I don’t mind this new format, as it’s similar to how the show was run in the first couple of seasons. The great part is that horrible singers are eliminated much sooner.

I’ll be judging the performers on their vocals, their wardrobe and style and finally their stage performance. Let’s get started! I’ve ordered the performances from most memorable to most forgettable.
